One of my favourite cafes, I love the ambiance and character of this old
place, the decor and music make we want to return time and time again. A
mixture of American and Egyptian cuisine, all homemade, made it our perfect
lunchtime place to get
away from the hustle and bustle of the busy Luxor streets. As with many of
the Luxor restaurants the staff always had a few minutes to help me with
my Arabic. In fact I think I’ve learnt more from chatting with the staff
than I did from the course of lessons I paid for last year. Anyway I
digress, for good tasty food in relaxed surroundings you won’t go far wrong
frequenting the Oasis Cafe. A definite must to add to your list- highly
recommended.

“Oasis Cafe features home-cooked food (comfort food plus gourmet specials such as pesto, home-made lasagne, and Moroccan cous-cous) in an early 20th century atmosphere. Jazz plays in the background, and you can drink some of the best coffee in town, or enjoy home-baked muffins and scones, apple pie and chocolate cake, while paging through The New Yorker or Foreign Affairs…. more “

“The service in this cafe is appalling and the prices are very high. The atmosphere is good but that is little compensation for it taking half an hour to get your coffee and then it costing you an arm and a leg plu s tip. There are better places with better value and nicer staff. The last manager was Somali… more “
