The Roof’ offers spectacular views of Luxor Temple and across the Nile over
to the West Bank (not the easiest of places to find) located on the top floor
above Snacktime. We enjoyed a relaxing hour sipping chilled fruit juices but
sadly we didn’t partake of the food on offer due to a prior engagement, however,
with the mouth-watering aromas drifting over from the grill it was certainly
very tempting.

An ideal place for a chilled drink and photo opportunities.  We didn’t
eat on this occasion so are unable to give a review other than to say many
customers seemed to be enjoying the food and it smelt divine.

Sharm El Sheikh Holidays

“This place is well worth a visit, it’s like a traditional Egyptian grill shop – but with a higher standard acceptable to tourists. The Chicken was superb and comparable to my favourite local place in Alex, moist – tasty and delicious, the meat dishes looked just as delicious and the price was excellent and all that with a fantastic view…. more “

“7th October 2017. We visited the Roof at Snacktime, for the third time in the last month, at 8.30pm. We were attended by a waiter within a few minutes, he just gave us enough time to get settled in. As we both had an idea of what we fancied, the order was placed in a minute or so. I asked… more “

Although not officially a restaurant, I felt we could not
leave out this lovely little tea room when doing our reviews.  Just along
the road from the St Joseph, the tea room open from first thing in the morning
until early evening is spotlessly clean and well decorated.  Delicious
paninis and homemade coleslaw, cheesecake, the best apple pie in Luxor and a
cracking cup of tea, served in a homely relaxed atmosphere.  Thank you
Christine and staff, thoroughly enjoyed our take-away lunch at the airport. See you
again later in the year.

“Yummy .. I’ve travelled to many different countries & frequented many coffee shops/tea rooms, but this ranks the top of them all. It was that good. Newly furbished and immaturely clean, with delicious goodies on offer. From the moment we walked in the door, the service was exceptional. My husband & I just loved the friendly atmosphere and mouth watering… more “

Having thoroughly enjoyed a meal at 1886 the last week we decided to give La
Corniche a try this week. (Both restaurants are located within the Old Winter
Place).  This lovely hotel has a beautiful ambiance and we began the
evening with an enjoyable drink in the Royal Bar.  Sadly La Corniche
Restaurant, offering international cuisine, was a little disappointing. The food
was acceptable, the staff attentive but the atmosphere seemed to lack the charm
and splendour associated with the rest of the hotel.  Maybe we were
expecting too much after being thoroughly spoilt dining at 1886!

“The Corniche is the restaurant that the residents of The Old Winter Palace use for breakfast or dinner if they are not eating in the other restaurants in the Hotel It is a large room & the tables are not on top of each other. This restaurant is a silver service. The food is generally á lá Carte, with a… more “

Oasis Cafe and Gallery Luxor

Sharm El Sheikh Holidays

Restaurant Reviews

One of my favourite cafes, I love the ambiance and character of this old
place, the decor and music make we want to return time and time again.  A
mixture of American and Egyptian cuisine, all homemade, made it our perfect
lunchtime place to get
away from the hustle and bustle of the busy Luxor streets.  As with many of
the Luxor restaurants the staff always had a few minutes to help me with
my Arabic.  In fact I think I’ve learnt more from chatting with the staff
than I did from the course of lessons I paid for last year.  Anyway I
digress, for good tasty food in relaxed surroundings you won’t go far wrong
frequenting the Oasis Cafe.  A definite must to add to your list- highly
recommended.

“This Cafe came highly recommended. I was not disappointed. Food and service excellent. Calm, warm and friendly environment. I would certainly recommend this cafe and do try the chicken curry. Hope to go back next year. Rosie – Doncaster, England. more “

“Oasis Cafe features home-cooked food (comfort food plus gourmet specials such as pesto, home-made lasagne, and Moroccan cous-cous) in an early 20th century atmosphere. “I have been to the Oasis Cafe many times over several years. The food remains the best American style food in Luxor – and maybe in all of Egypt. “The service in this cafe is appalling and the prices are very high. Maxime’s has to be one of the best loved Luxor restaurants. I first found Maxime’s
over 10 years ago and I go back each year to find its as popular as ever.
This friendly little restaurant offers a good selection of Egyptian and
International cuisine at extremely reasonable prices.  No fancy decor but
it’s spotlessly clean, the food is consistently good, unbeatable prices and friendly service.
I can without doubt recommend this
restaurant.

“We have stayed in Luxor many times and each time we have our evening meals in Maximes. We have tried other places but have always come back to Maximes as we have found it the best. I’ve heard wonderful things about this Irish owned family run hotel and
restaurant.   Sadly we didn’t get chance to see for ourselves this
time but I’m looking forward to meeting the lovely Mara and sampling her
authentic Egyptian dining experience on our return trip to Luxor next month.

Sharm El Sheikh Holidays

“Firstly I was staying at the attached hotel (Mara House – utterly superb), and ate here 3 nights. The organisation of the serving is slightly odd: there is one sitting starting about 7 and there is no menu to choose from as the idea is a “mini-banquet” to introduce you to common Egyptian dishes. The menu “rotates” every 3 days…. more “

“This is a great business concept. Serve everyone the same food, most of it from the cheapest possible ingredients (vegetables), on silver platters in a wonderful environment. and charge a high price – but one that is just a little cheaper than the big western hotels. Kerrching !! The building and furnishings are a delight and lots of effort has… more “

“What a huge let down! Following all the good reviews we were expecting something really special. The warm welcome that was so often mentioned was non-existent. We didn’t even know who Mara was, as the woman who opened the door to us didn’t introduce herself. The food comprised several courses of similar, mediocre food (especially the dish that looked and… more “

“After all the T/A reviews, we had to visit. The “complimentary” taxi, it’s included in the price of course, was a necessity as otherwise no one could find it in the back streets. Inside the atmosphere is like an old Egyptian’s grandees house, drapes, internal fountain, wonderful. The food consists of five courses with diners sitting at the same time…. more “

“Very disappointed with this establishment, Having visited it on the strength of Trip advisors reviews we were expecting a real treat, What we experienced was anything but. Firstly we had great difficulty actually finding the place. On arrival in a local taxi who had no knowledge of the Salahadeen we were told rather rudely “Well you should have booked and… more “

“Wonderful food and amazing atmosphere Thanks Mara more “

“We spent an enjoyable evening with two friends at Salahadeen.Everyone eats a set five course meal at 8pm, although I believe they are now sometimes serving only three courses. The service was excellent and the food very good. A lot of food is served but they make it clear that you don’t have to eat it all! We thought the… more “

“we had such an amazing dinner at salahadeen restaurant at mara house in luxor. this lace really is a jewel in a place where good authentic quality egyptian food is hard to come by. the host, mara is a delight and a wealth of information. the bar is warm and welcoming and the dining room is casually elegant and attractive…. more “

“I saw the reviews before travelling to Luxor and had high expectations. You can only eat at 8pm, everyone eats together, there is virtually no choice of what you eat, the food is mediocre and the cost is double what we paid at really good restaurants serving Egyptian food elsewhere in Luxor. I can only suppose that some of the… more “

“We visited the Salahadeen Restarant on 1st February 2019 to celebrate a “Special” birthday. It had been recommended by an American mother and daughter who had visited the Salahadeen earlier in the week. Snobs Luxor

Sharm El Sheikh Holidays

Restaurant Reviews

Snobs is located right at the end of a long line of restaurants just off the
main road opposite the Nile Palace, so apart from Jewel of the Nile about 30
yards further on, this was last on the map. Bright neon signs with a huge menu
board outside made us a little apprehensive at first, however, once inside we found
the restaurant spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated and the waiters attentive,
if not the most friendly.  Complimentary bread and dips were served while we waited
for our starters.  The food was great, in particular my partner’s starter
of filo wrapped cheese parcels (which I couldn’t resist) and my seafood platter.
Together with a reasonable bottle of wine wine the total bill came to just over
£20.00 for two. Highly recommended.

“We went here once during our stay. We both ate sea bass and had a suprise when the melas had a candle in a ring of onion! “My daughter and I visited Snobs on the last evening of our holiday in Luxor. First impressions of the place itself were favourable, it’s nicely decorated and appears clean. “We visited this restaurant twice during our fortnight’s stay in Luxor. “Snobs was quite empty when we visited. The decor is a little dated and strange. I ordered grilled prawns with rice which were well-cooked but very dry with no sauce to accompany them although I was quite amused when the plates arrived complete with candles set in onion(!) more “

“My wife and I liked Snobs enough to go back a second time during our week in Luxor. The decor’s a little odd (given this is Luxor not London!) but the food and service more than make up for it. The Snob salad is particularly good. more “

“Our 2 teenage girls wanted “anglo” cuisine so we went to Snobs. Our waiter was lovely: helpful and charming. We were made to feel v. welcome. We had the meze for 2 which was a huge feast.
