La Fleur Luxor

Restaurant Reviews

La Fleur is a fine dining restaurant within the 5 star Maritim JolieVille
Hotel.  Offering international gourmet food it’s an ideal place for a cosy
romantic evening meal away from the hustle and bustle of the centre of Luxor. We
didn’t try La Fleur on this occasion (as I plan a return visit with my husband
later in the year).  We did, however, enjoy drinks on the Sherezade Terrace
where we they have some splendid views so don’t forget your camera.

Sharm El Sheikh Holidays

“Situated at the Maritim Jolie Ville hotel. I have eaten at La Fleur a few times now as I stay at the hotel when in Luxor. The restaurant is really another room next to the main eating area of the hotel but is set up nicely with a good decorative order throughout. It has air con and feels more upmarket…. more “

Lotus Restaurant Luxor

The Lotus Restaurant is centrally located within the budget hotel Nefertiti,
with splendid views from the roof terrace over the Luxor Temple, the Souk and
the Nile.

Review will be listed after our return to Luxor next month.

Sharm El Sheikh Holidays

“Located at the rear of the Nefertiti hotel, the Lotus is on the first floor above an internet cafe. Through its windows, diners can view the negotiations in the tourist souk. The food is of fine quality and keenly priced. As always in Egypt, it is safer and more courteous to choose local dishes, so be brave and you will… more “

We did not personally try this restaurant having received very
mediocre comments from several new friends at our hotel.  The overall
opinion was ‘thought it was ok but nothing special. Much preferred the Taste of
India which had better, food, service and prices’. Having tried the Taste of
India ourselves and thoroughly enjoyed it we decided, on this trip at least, not try the Bombay.
Can only go on hearsay for this restaurant (although this
was the general view of all 12 friends).

Sharm El Sheikh Holidays

“Nice starters, meat was okayish, a warm welcome, closer to Brit prices than other restaurants we visited, we had a ‘service charge’ we weren’t expecting, but it was still reasonable value. Worth a visit, but not as good as Taste of India. more “

“I have been there in may the food taste similar the indian taste which I ate before in india,a lovely meal and lots of it we were very well, friendlay staff and relaxed atmosphere thank you more “

“Although the Lonely Planet recommends this restaurant, it has been through a few transformations since then. The current Bombay is not connected with the old Bombay. The old one was fine. The new one looks OK but the staff are very casual (playing computer games when we were there) and the food nondescript. There is another Indian restaurant in Luxor… more “

“This restaurant is recommended by Lonely Planet. Though we are not Indians (we did sample a lot of Indian food in US & Asia), we can tell the curry is no good. Very much appealling to non-Indians customers. They do offer you a 15% discount for the next visit. They have another Thai restaurant in the same complex. Thanks, but… more “

This Luxor restaurant came high recommended from friends who visited Egypt
earlier in the year.  The first thing that struck me was how quiet it was,
only two other customers apart from ourselves for the whole of the evening (because of this I decided it was wise not to try the seafood
as originally planned). The restaurant was
clean and and the waiter friendly.  I opted for meat tagine and my partner
the chicken shwarma, both meals were well cooked and nicely presented.
Good value for money, a shame there was not more people there to lighten the
atmosphere.  The bill for the 2 main courses and 2 soft drinks came to just
over 80LE, very reasonable.

Sharm El Sheikh Holidays

“We ate a very salty and solitary meal here! It was just the two of us so we waited on very well but the curry was disappointing. Not spicy just very salty and bland. more “

“Food can be ok but also not too good. The steak I ordered, for example, was very poor (probably about as thick and tasty as a tesco value burger) while my wife’s fish was tasty. With so many restaurants within walking distance – most especially Jewel of the Nile – I’d recommend giving Casablanca a miss. more “

“Firstly the waiter thinks he is funny, no hilarious, however my 7 & 9 year olds thought he was just “Loser”. There was 6 people in the restaurant, and being told once it is all freshly cooked was fine, but 6 times becaming very boring, and it felt like the Chef had popped out for the half the time! Food… more “

“we found this restaurant half way though our holiday, it was the best restaurant we,ve found in Luxor, the owner and staff were very friendly and helpful the food is authentic, fresh and cooked to order the restaurant was spotlessly clean with a simple decor and good value for money more “

“This relaxed and simply laid out restaurant serves first class local dishes. We enjoyed every course and returned twice to check out the rest of the menu. We were never disappointed. If you like to try out authentic local food prepared without fuss and no tourist mullarkey this is the place to go. Best place we ate in our two… more “

“We visited here end of March and had a very good meal. The staff were very helpful and owner most keen to hear comments.Beautiful clean toilets and generally spotless. more “

“Rated by some, cheap enough, but the food was just not up to it. Thin soup followed by main course which was very oily and pretty tasteless. we were pleased the next day that nothing untoward had happened to our stomachs more “

“We ate at Casablanca on our last night in Luxor. I had read many reviews both on TA and luxor travel tips and knew where we did and didn’t want to eat! The restaurant is spotlessly clean, well decorated, airy and bright. The owner goes out of his way ( without intruding) to make you feel welcome and special. We… more “

“The Casablanca is a great place to eat in Luxor, Awwad (the owner) makes you feel really welcome and has a very high standard not only with the food he serves but also with the cleanliness of the restaurant. This restaurant is located within the Pyramisa Isis Hotel.  Having
stayed at this hotel many years ago and fancying a change from Egyptian/English
food we’d eaten since arriving we decided we’d try their Chinese restaurant.
Big mistake! Having eaten in many Chinese restaurants around the world one would
be hard pushed to find any resemblance with the food served up here.  I
thought the food was in no way authentic and overpriced, then again if you eat
in the hotels you can always expect to pay over the odds. My advice is stick
with the local restaurants, on the whole the food is well cooked and very reasonably priced.

“On a short visit to Luxor tried the pink panda after reading the review in the rough guide. What a mistake empty restaurant, had to ask forchop sticks after hunting found a few sets.Food came all together not as we had asked for as seperate courses.Sauces that accompanied the dishes were all wrong and made from the cheapest of ingredients(tomato ketchup with… more “

“Just returned from Luxor. Having eaten out every day this is truely the worst restaurant in Luxor. Deans Bistro Luxor

Restaurant Reviews

dean's-bistro-luxor-restaurant

You might well be a little dubious at first having travelled all the way to
Egypt only to find a place called ‘Dean’s Bistro’.  However, whilst the
decor is very basic the restaurant is spotlessly clean and the food itself
well cooked and of generous proportions. This busy little restaurant has a
lively and friendly atmosphere.  While I chose a tasty Thai curry, my
partner had a fillet steak which was ‘cooked to perfection’.  Our overall
opinion of Dean’s Bistro – cheap and cheerful.

Sharm El Sheikh Holidays

“Went here on several occasions food beautiful (steak and salad perfect). Clean and staff very pleasant. Great value for money would definately recommend. more “

“Having a coeliac as a partner I found that every effort was put into making his food both good to look at and excellent to eat. The owner couldn’t have tried harder. Each morning fresh vegetables arrive for that days menu. Pies are homemade be it savoury or sweets and the custard is heaven. Every restaurant has days when you… more “

“Eaten there quite a few times…even though Dean wasn’t always there, the quality of food and service were consistently good! All in all, a superb experience (with the added bonus of fine music!). Three cheers for Dean!!! more “

“stayed at the sonesta in may 2weeks and found deans what a find ate there most nights starters main sweets fab going back 23rd sept will be eating at deans more “

“Deans Bistro is very small. It is clean and the food was ok. Try to avoid going to this restaurant too early. Dean has three waiters who like to watch you eat your dinner more “

“Not a bad cafe/restaurant, but one thing I did not like was that the owner (Dean) needs to have a lesson or 2 in communication skiills as he seems, in my opinion, very rude the way he speaks to both staff and customers. Also heard another restaurant being put down, which is not necessary. In addition it is not nice… more “

“We found Deans by accident on the last night of our holiday and thought it was fantastic! My friend said it was the best fillet steak he’d ever had and it certainly looked like it was excellent quality. Apparently the chef is the only British qualified chef in the resort… I had some beautiful chicken and we even went back… more “

“Deans Bistro is our favourite restaurant in Luxor, on a two week trip we ate there at least four times and were never disappointed. Meals are good value and very tasty. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and I hope to see Deans Bistro listed in the lonely planet guide book where it should be. more “

“A little gem in the back streets. Food was delicious and the waiters very attentive. We ate here twice during our week holiday and would definitely go back again more “

“We went to the above dive last week, the food was only just ok and the owner was the ruddest man I have ever met. The staff were ok, trying to work hard under the wrath of Mr Dean. I left my specs on the table there, and the day after he would not give them back to my driver… more “

el-kababgy-restaurant breathtaking-views-from-el-kababgy-restaurant-luxor

Restaurant El Kababgy is situated on the east bank of the
river Nile directly opposite the Winter Palace. We enjoyed a light lunch and a
drink here and were so impressed decided to return the following day for our
evening meal.  The cuisine is Egyptian/International with an extensive menu
to choose from.  We both started with soup followed by a mouth watering
lamb tagine for myself and the grilled chicken for my partner. Both meals were
of generous proportions and extremely well cooked.  This was not the
cheapest meal we’ve had but taking into account the wonderful views I found it
good value at just under 190LE for two including drinks (certainly cheaper that
eating in the hotels).

“I would rather starve than eat in this so called restaurant, don’t be fooled by the Egyptian owner speaking charming English. The food was less than poor and the portions ridiculously small. “I must have different standards on views to some other people. The restaurant is on the Nile, I think. “Great place for a light snack / meal or drink looking out over the nile. We went there a couple of times at sunset just to soak up the view. Offering a delicious selection of original Lebanese dishes with fresh homemade
