The weather in Egypt in October is like an English summer with out the rain..

The ‘big hot days’ have gone by now and the weather is very nice. Avoiding the mid day sun is still a must, but only for a few hours and the rest of the day is fine and not too hot in the sun.

If your a compulsive sun bather, you are guaranteed as much frying weather as you can handle. October is a good month for this as you can fry for a full 10 hours every and probably not actually cook your skin.

The evenings are cool in October and sleeping out in the desert will require
a blanket to keep warm but as long as you have a fire you do not feel the cold
just before the sun rises.

The temperature in Egypt during the summer months is 28 ° C on average, with a minimum of 22º. That’s quite hot for visitors, and remember that in the desert there is not much shade.

Winter in Egypt

The average temperature in January and February are 14 ° C, with a minimum of 9. It is better than in summer, although at night it’s best to have a jacket.

Best time to travel to Egypt

Egypt in general is a hot, dry and arid country but the climate in the Nile Delta and Upper Egypt Valley is different. The Delta has a moderate climate with summer temperatures between 20 and 30 degrees Celsius and high humidity, a Mediterranean climate. The rest of the country is dry and can reach temperatures of over 50 degrees at times. The desert nights can be cool and heat difference is very marked.

From April to May is a great time to travel and enjoy some heat without being overbearing.

In the Red Sea water temperature is nice but due to strong currents can become very cold, but usually is warm in summer. Throughout this coast and Sinai wind blows almost daily and it ideal for practising certain water sports.

Alexandria has a hot desert climate like the rest of Egypt’s northern coast. The prevailing north wind, blowing across the Mediterranean, gives the city a less severe climate than other desert resorts.

Rainfall is very welcome but not much seen, August is the hottest month in Alexandria with an average temperature of 26.5°C (80°F) and the coldest is January at 13°C (55°F) with around 14 hours of daily sunshine in July. The wettest month is January with an average of 1 inch of rain.

It usually snows on the Sinai mountains but almost never snows in Cairo or Alexandria.

Cairo is close to the Nile River, thus streams and irrigated crops increases humidity.The hot desert wind blows hard in spring, bringing sometimes unbearable heat, along with dust and sand. Temperatures can exceed 40 °C (104 °F) from May to September, and reach 37/38 °C (99/100 °F) in April and October.
Rainfall in Cairo is very welcome but not much seen, amounting to less than a quarter inch per year. In the wettest years, it has been known to exceed 4 inches and falls in the form of showers, between autumn and spring, mostly in winter. Areas to the  south of Cairo receive only traces of rainfall, yet can suddenly experience extreme rainfall resulting in flash floods.
