Yala Safari Game Lodge Hotel
“The Yala lodge was exactly what we expected the feel of being on safari while still having all the luxury you need. The rooms are lovely with lots of elephant pattern materials. The bathroom had lots of eco-friendly energy saving elements. The food was tasty. The safaris were gerat even though we missed the leopard. The staff were wonderful “
“We loved Yala Lodge. The staff were helpful and the food was excellent. Unfortunately the hotel has experienced a high number of drop outs due to the current problems in Sri Lanka but we had no problems. The lodge is built with an eco friendly theme the room we were given was spacious and everything is made from natural materials . “
“We went to Yala park for 1 night during our stay in Sri Lanka in June. I had never been on safari before and i wasnt sure what to expect. We had a great time! I was so amazed to see so many different animals out in the wild such as crocodiles monkeys a sloth bear jackals elephants snakes. The trip”
“Yala National Park is absolutely fantastic. We took in a 4 hour safari around a small part of the park and saw virtually everything including Sloath Bears Leopard Elephants Crocodiles Lizards deer boar fox king cobra water buffalo eagles etc Very interesting and great guides. Very highly recommended. more “
“Yala Game lodge was all what we wanted. We loved the setting and Yala National Park offered us unspoilt beauty. I have never seen so many Leopards as in Yala one day five of them. They are not shy as in Africa and its a real beauty. I will never forget it. The True Gems of Yala. I found them”
“Stayed here for one night during the usual 7 night tour of Sri Lanka. I do wish I could report more favourably on this Game Lodge as the area and people have suffered badly from the Tsunami. However my advice would be to give this a miss. The complex is spread out with individual huts. The public areas need refurbishment”
“My fiancé and I spent a few nights here during our travels of Sri Lanka. This hotel was definitely one of the best that we stopped at. The food was good with plenty of choice and the restaurant was in a very rustic setting. The rooms were beautiful full of character and had an ‘explorer’ feel to them. Our room”

Peacock Beach Hotel
“We stayed here for 2 nights firstly to visit the Yala National Park and secondly so as to be in a convenient place to head North to the hill country. The hotel staff were charming and very helpful and the rooms satisfactory. No English-speaking TV however. The food was European and OK taking into account that as far as we”
“This was quite a delightful surprise for a peaceful week’s stay. Although fairly empty due to the economy the hotel was a marvelously quiet retreat set in beautiful gardens with an abundance of wildlife. I shall never forget the troop of large monkeys that accompanied my morning swims in the very large pool. Staff were pleasant although not terribly efficient”
“The Peacock Hotel is one of those places that your heart goes out to; they are struggling with keeping the hotel afloat there aren’t that many visitors since the tsunami took away a chunk of sand from the ‘swimming’ beach (there is a sharp drop off now and the waves are easily always 10 to 20 feet high dangerous rip”
“We stayed at the Peacock Beach as part of the international Sri Lanka Balloon Festival tour 2008. We had heard about the devastation due to the tsunami and were impressed by the restoration that has now been completed. The rooms were simply furnished but clean and comfortable staff were eager to please good “international buffet” at mealtimes. Beautiful sea views “
“Lovely location. The hotel is quite shabby in places but when you realise the hotel was totally devastated in 2004 with terrible loss of life you just have to admire the way they are trying to get the place back together again. Go and stay there! You will love it and they need you! more “
“Hi Stayed at The Peacock Beach twice in the past and had no complaints at all. When we saw it had re-opened we added it to our trip in March. Am so glad it was only for 3 nights! If we hadn’t felt sorry for all the staff we would have moved on. We were the only guests (108 rooms);”
“We stayed at this hotel as our stay over for the Yala Safari and infact extended our stay acouple of days as we were pleasantly surprised to find it also had a nice beach stretch. While the rooms were quite comfortable the food also had a great variety. The Restaurant and bar has an amazing view of the ocean and”
“This hotel has just reopened after being closed for two years and at the time of writing it was like a building site! There is a lot of work to do on this hotel. It’s only advantages are that it’s right on the beach and only a short walk into town. The food was poor but overall the staff are”
