Is Egypt a top holiday spot?
I absolutely adore Egypt. It’s one of my all time favorite places – Sharm for an atmosphere that caters more for sun lovers and Luxor for the culture seekers. Nothing beats an evening cruise down the Nile and what can I say about the people – so poor yet so genuine and friendly.
Do take care to respect their culture though – even in the most relaxed of resorts going topless is frowned on. Sharm is more relaxed with tourists than Luxor where you may be stared at if you roam the streets in skimpy holiday attire. We love to take school materials for the local kids in Luxor (it’s best not to hand out cash) but be warned, you will get mobbed, albeit it fairly harmless.
The light show in Luxor is well worth a visit for the atmosphere and don’t miss Luxor Museum.
